Chat feature not helpful

Is anyone else frustrated with the restrictions on the chat feature in GTW? We often want the ability for our attendees to put information in the chat to share and be seen by all the attendees. But there is no way to do this.

Are there any plans to expand the chat functionality to allow attendee use?

Also, as an organizer, I wasn't able to pin a chat from an attendee, only organizer messages. Example: I had a chat with an attendee, they supplied some useful information, but I couldn't pin it for everyone to see.

Any suggestions or workarounds to make it more interactive? I've tried in both standard events and webcasts.

Thanks!

  • Hi [Ray Pambrun],

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the chat feature in GTW! I can definitely understand your frustration with the current limitations of the chat functionality, especially when it comes to enhancing interaction and engagement during events.

At present, the ability to allow attendees to post visible information to the entire group, or pin chats from attendees, isn’t available in the same way as it is for organizers. I know how important it is to allow for seamless communication, where valuable information can be shared and easily referenced by everyone in real time.

As for your question about expanding the chat functionality to allow attendee use, while I don't have exact details on any upcoming changes, I highly recommend staying updated on any new feature releases from GTW. You might also want to reach out directly to their support team for the latest roadmap on chat features.

In the meantime, one workaround you could try is encouraging attendees to share key information via the event’s Q&A feature or utilize a shared document or collaborative space (like a Google Doc or a shared note) where all attendees can add and view important information. This way, even though it's not exactly within the chat feature itself, it could help facilitate the sharing of information.

I also recommend exploring other interactive features such as live polls, surveys, or chat moderation tools to drive engagement. Another option is to integrate a third-party app for live chat that may offer more flexibility in terms of visibility and interaction.
