Gotomypc having some kind of outage
I've had users pinging me for the past fifteen minutes saying they can't get into Gotomypc. Either the login screen doesn't load, or the screen never transitions from login to 2-step verification, or the thing never moves past 2-step once they give approval, or it hangs on Account Selection. One user got a generic 'service currently unavailable' page. Which would not be so irritating if it weren't for the fact that GTMPC's status page says 'nope! No problems! The service is fine!'. Gotomypc is down. If it's unusable, even if each page in the process technically loads, then the service is down. Fix this.SolvedJ.12 years agoContributor2.2KViews0likes6Commentskeystrokes triggering remote windows events

[Latest updates as of Jan-23-2023 1:30 PM EST ] In order to provide more reliable and faster connections. GoToMyPC is doing some major maintenance this weekend and needs support from you all. This change is aimed at increasing the connection speed and availability of your computers, but this one-time large-scale maintenance activity may cause about 5% of machines to go offline or not be connectable. Following is the remedy to get them back online and connectable. Restart the GoToMyPC services on the host computer. Give it 5-10 minutes to come online and then try connecting. If restarting the service does not resolve the issue, reboot the host computer. Give it 5-10 minutes to come online and then try connecting. If both of the above have not worked the next option that can be tried is uninstalling and reinstalling GoToMyPC on the affected computer. We understand that it's not the best experience and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused, however, we are looking forward to your support while we are upgrading our hardware capacity to serve you better. FAQ Q: What this file does? can it harm my computer? A: The file can be be opened in any text editor and its contents can be verified/reviewed. It's a registry file which modifies only the GoToMyPC related registry value. Q: What exactly this registry files does? A: After this maintenance , you host computer needs to be reaching out to new ipaddress of GoToMyPC servers. While 95% of host machines are already able to reach to newipaddress, about 5% machines are still referring to oldipaddress, causing them to be offline or have connection issues. Running this registry file will manually fix that issue by replacing old ipaddress with new. and its all related to GoToMyPC registry settings. We have GotoMyPC on some firewalled medical devices. The firewall prevents DNS, so we have to use the hosts file to configure GoToMyPC. Back in January there was a loss of connectivity related to changing IP addresses of the Poll servers. This has reared it head again this week. I have configured all 3 server IPs (2x 23.239.x.y and the older 216.115.x.y) in the hosts file. I am finding this week that I can only connect if the registry is also configured to have the 'older' 216.115.x.y address. But the problem is that once a terminal is connected to the service (with no user remoting in) the registry updates itself and removes the 216.115 address - which then disconnects the system! So....how should I configure the hosts/registry, and is it possible to stop the registry from getting altered? i heard that LogMeIn are retiring the 216 IP address, but how can they if the 'new' ones don't work for all users? I am 3rd party IT for a small business that uses GoToMyPC for remote access. This client is experiencing intermittent connectivity issues to their host PCs located in their offices. It seems that this problem is upon "reconnecting" after being connected and logging off. To me, it is as if it isn't actually releasing it's connection. They try to "connect" via their account on the web, it shows the PC as available but then timeout and then shows "connected" as In Session and they cannot connect. Upon restarting the host PC at the office, it may show the option to connect, but it will not. Other times, the reboot fixes the issue. GoToMyPC SW is latest revision and these are Win10 PCs with all updates applied. I have tested this with their A/V Firewall turned off as well with no change in behavior. There are 5 PCs they connect back to and this behavior has been experienced at one time or another on almost all of the PCs. Suggestions?
