I recently purchased an ASUS laptop and added it to our Central account as a device to connect to. Laptop is Windows 11 Home, and it has integrated Intel Xe graphics. No dedicated GPU and no external monitors hooked up to it. The laptop was configured to never go to sleep when on AC power, and power mode was set to performance. The first two days of use had no issues. The lid was closed, and I was able to do my work remotely. Immediately after two days I noticed the following behavior: Some of my Windows programs and folders will either open or not open. File explorer will not show at all. Entirely a hit or miss on what will open. The Start menu will not display when clicked on. I can open a program like MS Edge, but I cannot close it. I can Alt+Tab to see the available open windows to cycle thru, but it will not display the window I want. Here's what happens next... When my laptop lid is opened, all of these windows and registered clicks will then work. Meaning that instance of MS Excel I tried to open or File Explorer will pop up multiple times. Basically, it appears everything decides to "work" once the laptop's lid is open. Before anyone says it's the laptop, I hooked up an external monitor to see if it has to do with the lid being closed at all. I can confirm the issues are NOT repeated with an external monitor. Laptop works like normal. We have a Dell Latitude laptop connected to our Central account, and after turning off all the sleep settings etc.., that one has no issues when the lid is closed. Apps and windows work perfectly fine. It also has an integrated Intel GPU (I forget if it's Xe or an older chip). So, in short, I need help troubleshooting why this is happening when the lid is closed and connected to Logmein and how to make it work while keeping the lid closed.BravaCentauri834 days agoNew Contributor34Views0likes2CommentsUnable to move some PC's to different group

Hi, Due to some recent vulnerabilities, our endpoint protection detected these and LMI has listed these within each computer. The issue has since been resolved, however, we have a lot of devices to now clear these messages on. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any way of 'acknowledging all threats' across multiple or all devices. Resolving these notifications will take days if not weeks of just clicking through them. Could you please confirm if there's any way we can mark all these? Hi LogMeIn Community, I've encountered an issue and would appreciate any insights or suggestions you might have. Issue: I am able to successfully connect to a host computer using the LogMeIn client for remote control and can edit files without any problems. However, when I attempt to use the file transfer functionality with the same credentials, I receive an error message stating, "connection refused. You do not have the rights to access files on this computer." Details: Remote Control Access: Works perfectly. I can control the host and make changes to files. File Transfer Attempt: After connecting to the host, I try to transfer files but get the error mentioned above. Credentials: Same credentials are used for both remote control and file transfer. Environment: Both computers are running the latest version of LogMeIn software. Questions: Are there different firewall settings or ports that need to be configured specifically for the File Manager/File Transfer functionality as opposed to Remote Control? Could there be additional security settings or policies on the host machine that might block file transfers but allow remote control? Any guidance or troubleshooting steps you can provide would be greatly appreciated. More and More computers are being setup with Microsoft ID Authentication and Logmein Central has NO METHOD to Authenticate! I have been a LogMein Central Admin for 10 years and have had no problem Logging into remote computer's connected to our Domain or had Local Profiles. If I did it was because I had the wrong username or password. The verbiage in the Authentication portion of a remote connection states: 'Enter the Windows user name and password you use when physically sitting at the remote computer.' Well that's just more and more wrong these days. New computers running Windows 11 and 10 are forcing setups to use a Microsoft ID and making it increasingly hard to setup a local profile. More and more computers are using Windows Hello. Biometrics, or pincodes are the only things users ever use to get into their machines. Both of which Logmein has no method to Authenticate with. This is becoming more and more frustrating as I need to connect to these PC's and GoTo / Logmein Support has no legitimate answer on how to connect! I am surprised there aren't more articles from frustrated Admins like myself. After this post I have to start looking for a GoTo/Logmein Replacement because it doesn't look like they are going to do anything or that they even recognize there is a problem. It's not going to go away it's just going to get worse as Microsoft moves farther away from local profiles.CkGottafly2 months agoNew Contributor177Views0likes2CommentsHow to trigger Alerts Returned to Normal : True

Is there any way to trigger this to true so we could filter/rule out false positives? Note: Some of our environments, the connection isn't always great and the devices may go offline for a while, but eventually come back on. I tried testing this where there's also a trigger for a device coming back online, but all it does is create a new alert and doesn't actually mark the Return to Normal - True.heyitsvu2 months agoNew Member137Views0likes1CommentClient causes grey screen on my laptop if I reboot a remote computer

Does LMI Central use hardware acceleration for encoding/decoding the video stream, and is the codec published? I can only really speak anecdotally, but I feel like the CPU and GPU usage attributed to a LMI remote control session have increased maybe within the past ~year. Maybe both CPU and GPU usage on both sides used to be like 8% to 10%, but now they're both 16% to 20%. I notice this on both the host computer as well as the client computer. But I haven't knowingly changed any settings (quality, color, resolution, quantity of monitors, OS, activity on the host computer, etc). So my (perhaps uninformed) hypothesis was that like maybe LMI used to use H.264, but then maybe recently switched to H.265 or AV1? In my hypothesis, the increased usage I think I'm seeing could be attributed to using a more resource-intensive codec, or a codec which my graphics cards don't support for hardware acceleration. All of the computers in question are workstation-grade with i7 processor and discrete GPU (and 16GB+ RAM, SSD, 300Mbps+ internet connection, etc). My client computer is a little old, and probably due for replacement. So if I should try to target a new computer/GPU which could support hardware acceleration that would work with LMI, then I can look into that. Likewise, we could target certain GPU hardware as we gradually/normally replace host computers in the office.etb2 months agoActive Contributor1KViews0likes12CommentsUser Audits

Hello: We have written a script to add a new local admin user to our systems we have in our LogMeIn portal and it works to create the user, but once created the new user is still not able to be used to connect with LMI. Not until we remote in with the old user and log out - then back in with the new user. When we do that Windows sets up the new user and after that we can use LMI to access that system. Has anyone found a way to avoid that step and to use LMI and a powershell script to both create the user and also set that user up in Windows so that we can avoid the manual step of having to first log in once as the new user so that it then works in LMI ? script: $password1 = ConvertTo-SecureString “password1” -AsPlainText -Force $password2 = ConvertTo-SecureString “password2” -AsPlainText -Force if (Get-LocalUser -Name "user1") { Enable-LocalUser -Name "user1" Set-LocalUser -Name "user1" -Description "User 1" -Password $password1 } else { New-LocalUser -Name "user1" -Description "User 1" -Password $password1 Add-LocalGroupMember -Group "Administrators" -Member "user1" } # New-LocalUser -Name "user2" -Description "User 2" -Password $password2 # Add-LocalGroupMember -Group "Administrators" -Member "user2"cwall3332 months agoNew Member329Views0likes1CommentLogMeIn Network Error with Amazon Fire 11 tablet

I have 1 user who reported today that they could no longer log in to their computer through LMI. They could still hit the control-alt-delete button to log in, but after doing that, they were unable to type anything through LMI. But everything worked perfectly fine for me to remote control their computer using my user account. This is not unlike something that had happened ~8 months ago, so I went about debugging along similar lines as what had worked back then. But then I realized that new version 15512 was released today (link), and it comes with new permissions for Black Screen, Keystrokes, and Ctrl-Alt-Del. I found that the host computer for this 1 affected user had updated already, and theirs is the only 1 of our host computers to get the update so far. And I checked the new permissions for this affected use, and the new permissions all seemingly defaulted to being disabled. The way that the permission descriptions are written (link), it's actually not clear to me whether checking the checkbox of these new permissions enables or disables the ability to use these functions. For example the description for the new Keystrokes permission says "Disable all keystrokes from the client sent to the remote host during remote control". So if I check that checkbox, am I enabling or disabling the user to send keystrokes? When I examine a user that has "full control", these checkboxes are all checked, so for example that makes it seem like checking the checkbox allows the user to send keystrokes. I only really just discovered this a bit ago, so I haven't fully tested yet. But, if these new permissions could effectively default to locking out all non-admin users from using LMI, that might constitute a semi-emergency that should be raised sooner than later. That said, apologies if this winds up being a false alarm.Solvedetb3 months agoActive Contributor883Views0likes8Commentshow to tell if someone is logged in on shared computer?

Also to note we have multiple Windows 7 devices and they working fine no issues. 2024-04-26 11:43:10.154 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - LoadUrl - Received response 200 [https://secure.logmein.com/myrahost/list.aspx?weighed=1&os=windows&buildnumber=15428] 2024-04-26 11:43:10.154 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - LoadUrl - received body: OK 64471 control.lmi-app23-05.logmein.com 63840 control.lmi-app23-07.logmein.com 63827 control.lmi-app23-10.logmein.com 63600 control.lmi-app23-02.logmein.com 63453 control.lmi-app23-09.logmein.com 62912 control.lmi-app23-01.logmein.com 2024-04-26 11:43:10.154 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - 158.120.18.31:443/http - Aborted (rcvd 29881 bytes, sent 834 bytes). 2024-04-26 11:43:10.154 - Info - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - WebSvc - Connecting to web gateway control.lmi-app23-07.logmein.com:80... 2024-04-26 11:43:10.154 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - Setup socket for connecting to control.lmi-app23-07.logmein.com on port 80... 2024-04-26 11:43:10.154 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - Resolving address for control.lmi-app23-07.logmein.com... 2024-04-26 11:43:10.154 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - Connecting to control.lmi-app23-07.logmein.com on port 80... 2024-04-26 11:43:10.154 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - 158.120.18.206:80 - Connected (SSL: yes). 2024-04-26 11:43:10.154 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - 158.120.18.206:80/websvc - SSL handshake started. 2024-04-26 11:43:28.687 - Error - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - 158.120.18.206:80/websvc - Certificate chain verification failed, trust status: 20/100. 2024-04-26 11:43:28.687 - Error - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - 158.120.18.206:80/websvc - 2: CN=DigiCert Global Root G2, OU=www.digicert.com, O=DigiCert Inc, C=US; S#=03:3A:F1:E6:A7:11:A9:A0:BB:28:64:B1:1D:09:FA:E5; trust 20/10c. 2024-04-26 11:43:28.687 - Error - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - 158.120.18.206:80/websvc - 1: CN=DigiCert Global G2 TLS RSA SHA256 2020 CA1, O=DigiCert Inc, C=US; S#=0C:F5:BD:06:2B:56:02:F4:7A:B8:50:2C:23:CC:F0:66; trust 0/102. 2024-04-26 11:43:28.687 - Error - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - 158.120.18.206:80/websvc - 0: CN=*.lmi-app23-07.logmein.com, O="GoTo Technologies USA, Inc", L=Boston, S=Massachusetts, C=US; S#=0E:9E:DC:E4:4F:82:8E:C7:99:F4:45:C1:DB:4D:21:F2; trust 0/102. 2024-04-26 11:43:28.687 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - 158.120.18.206:80/websvc - SSL handshake done. 2024-04-26 11:43:28.687 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - 158.120.18.206:80/websvc - Error (in SslHandshake): Certificate verification failed. 2024-04-26 11:43:28.687 - Debug - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - Socket - 158.120.18.206:80/websvc - Closed (rcvd 3821 bytes, sent 621 bytes). 2024-04-26 11:43:28.687 - Error - LogMeIn - NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM - 02912 - 0x000016A8 - WebSvc - Failed to connect to web gateway: The data is invalid. Using Central 50 All remote clients are using the latest Host app version 15460. My PCs: Using both Win 10 Home and Win 11 Home - problem is the same when using both. This issue only happens when remoting into certain laptops, never desktops When remoting into certain laptops, I have an issue, for example when opening Settings. Sometimes the Settings window does not even display. The app icon appears on the task bar, but nothing on the desktop. I can hover over the taskbar icon and the mini-window appears, then if I click on the mini-window, the Setting window (usually) pops up. Then, some of the links may or may not appear active, I.E. hovering over them may produce the highlight effect, sometimes not. If I click on, for example, "Windows Update", the window tries to render the Update screen, but it just overlays on top of the previous window without obscuring the previous window. The new window is a complete garble of both windows overlaid on top of each other. Sometimes I can change the Resolution (remote session window, top menu bar) and things may appear better, but nothing is completely resolved. Any help would be appreciated.VBGuy5 months agoNew Contributor505Views0likes4CommentsDelete computers via PowerShell & API
I didn't find any examples online so I thought to post my working example I wrote to use PowerShell to interact with the API and delete stale computers. TODO: automate the following manual Steps to occur prior to PS script Get a list of all Hosts in LogMeIn Central (separate script). Description contains FQDN of PC. This also correlates the PC name in the description field to the LMI ID. Get a list of all Windows devices in Intune (separate script). Append AD domain to PC name. Combine the results in XLSX. Find the delta using vlookup. Filter results for items in LMI but not in Intune. Manually edit LMI entries with "(1)", "(2)", etc in description. This will align LMI w/AD list. Add results toC:\temp\Delete-LogMeInCentralByID.csv, which is a CSV of just the LMI IDs. So now you have a CSV file containing IDs you wish to delete from LMI Central. Here's how I approached this. There is probably a more elegant way to improve some of my hacks. #------------------------------------ $jsonFile = "c:\temp\output.json" Remove-Item -Force $jsonFile $myString = "" #read the contents of the CSV $myHosts = import-csv -delimiter "`t" "C:\temp\Delete-LogMeInCentralByID.csv" #iterate through the CSV and build an array of strings $int = 0 foreach ($myHost in $myHosts) { if($int = 0) { $mystring += $myHost.id } else { $mystring += $myHost.id + ", " } $int = $int + 1 } #get rid of the trailing ", " $myString = $myString -replace ".{2}$" # Convert comma separated string of numbers to array of numbers, with object type number. $aryIds = $myString.split(',') | % {iex $_} #write the JSON to file, mirroring the format required by LogMeIn-Central API from developer.logmein.com @{hostIds=$aryIds} | ConvertTo-Json | Add-Content -Path $jsonFile # we now have the json file of hostIds to delete. # execute call from LogMeIn API <# LMI-Central AUTHENTICATION #> $un = '<get this from your API configuration>' $pw = '<get this from your API configuration>' # create the token $token = [Convert]::ToBase64String([Text.Encoding]::ASCII.GetBytes(("{0}:{1}" -f $un,$pw))) # create the header $header = @{ 'Authorization' = 'Basic ' + $token } #set URL (note, this works with v1, not v2) $uri = "https://secure.logmein.com/public-api/v1/authentication" # set the auth token $auth = Invoke-WebRequest -method get -h $header -uri $uri $newheader = @{ 'Authorization' = 'Basic ' + $token 'Content-Type' = 'application/json' } <# END AUTHENTICATION #> #set URI for the DELETE. Has anyone else run into this and is there a way to resolve? We use IP based printing and after installing Logmein Antivirus (with firewall enabled in the policy), we've experienced issues with printing. Jobs get stuck in the spooler and sometimes the printer shows offline in Windows devices. We've worked around this for now by turning Logmein firewall off and enabling Windows firewall. There are not a ton of options in the policy creator. It would be nice to be able to add firewall exceptions if needed.SolvedFormer Member5 months ago13KViews3likes29CommentsNew Versions Windows 10 Uses a PIN Number, Not Password
Well, Microsoft has altered the security method for entry into the PC. They are allowing users to opt for a PIN Number instead of a Username / Password combo. LogMeIn does not seem to be able to deal with this. Or, I just don't know the answer. Is there a way to log into Windows 10 using PIN Numbers? Or should I quit looking for this answer and force the user back into Username/Password?SolvedEricAnderson5 months agoActive Contributor6.5KViews0likes10CommentsHow to control user access rights on a large scale?
I have LogMeIn installed on a large group of domain joined computers. I want anyone who has access to logmein to be able to start a remote control session to these computers but not necessarily be admins. I would like to do this without having to go back and add BUILTIN\Users as having this access manually across a large number of computers through the individual computer dashboards. Host configuration packages don't cover access control. Is there any way to control this via registry, group policy, command line?SolvedStuartP5 months agoActive Contributor2KViews0likes3CommentsInstalling client on Horizon instant clones?
We have a number of users in a VDI environment. We have recently switched from persistent/user assigned machines, to Horizon Instant clones. We would like to know if there is a way to deploy the client to these clones? We are using folder redirection and FsLogix for profile management. The issues we are wondering are: 1 - when a user logs on, we could deploy the Logmein client. Their machine would show up in our Logmein Central console. Could we just deploy it to our gold image? 2 - When a user logs off, the machine is destroyed, but would remain in the Logmein Central console. This then repeats with each user logon/logoff. Is there a better way to manage this? 3 - What is the best way to utilize Logmein on instant clone machines in a VDI environment? We have been a long time logmein customer and really like it, but perhaps our environment is not supported?
